Accessibility Statement
Effective Date: April 4th, 2026
Last Updated: April 4th, 2026
Our Commitment to Accessibility
Legacy Baptist Church is committed to making its website, legacybc.org, accessible to all people, including those with disabilities. We believe that every person should be able to experience the love of Christ and engage with the ministry of our church, and we work continually to improve the accessibility and usability of our online presence.
Conformance Standard
The Site is designed to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the Level AA conformance level, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.1 defines requirements for website designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
We target substantial conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Substantial conformance means that the Site largely meets the guidelines, though some content or functionality may not yet fully conform due to factors described in the Known Limitations section below. We are continually working toward full conformance.
Accessibility Features
The Site includes the following accessibility features:
- Semantic HTML structure to support screen reader navigation
- Text alternatives (alt text) for informative images
- Sufficient color contrast between text and background
- Keyboard navigation support for interactive elements
- Focus indicators for keyboard users
- Descriptive link text
- Consistent navigation structure across pages
- Responsive design that adapts to different screen sizes, including mobile devices
- Resizable text that remains readable when enlarged up to 200%
- Heading structure that supports screen reader navigation
- ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) attributes where appropriate
- Form labels and error identification for accessible form completion
Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, some content on the Site may not be fully accessible. Known limitations include:
- Embedded third-party content: The Site includes content from third parties, including YouTube videos, Planning Center giving links, and social media embeds. The accessibility of this content is determined by the respective third-party providers and is outside our direct control.
- Sermon videos: We work to provide accurate captions for sermon videos, but captioning may be delayed following the initial publication of a video. Auto-generated captions may contain errors.
- Legacy content: Older content published before our current accessibility standards may not fully conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We prioritize remediation of high-traffic and actively used content.
- User-generated or dynamically generated content: Content submitted by users or generated dynamically may not always meet accessibility standards.
- PDF documents: Some downloadable documents may not be fully accessible. We are working to ensure that new PDF documents meet accessibility standards and to remediate existing documents when feasible.
If you encounter accessibility barriers on the Site, we want to hear from you. See the Feedback section below.
Assistive Technology Compatibility
The Site is designed to be compatible with recent versions of the following assistive technologies:
- Screen readers including JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), and TalkBack (Android)
- Screen magnification software
- Speech recognition software
- Keyboard-only navigation
The Site is best experienced using current versions of major web browsers, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Microsoft Edge, in combination with current versions of supported assistive technologies. Older browsers or assistive technology versions may not support all accessibility features.
Ongoing Efforts
Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time project. We:
- Review accessibility during new content creation and feature development
- Conduct periodic accessibility audits of the Site
- Address accessibility issues reported by visitors
- Stay current with evolving accessibility standards and best practices
- Provide accessibility considerations in staff and volunteer training where relevant
In-Person Accessibility
Accessibility extends beyond our website. At our physical location at 2976 Dallas Acworth Highway, Dallas, Georgia, we strive to make our worship services, ministry programs, and facilities accessible to people with disabilities. If you have questions about in-person accessibility, accommodations for worship services, or specific needs for ministry participation, please contact us in advance so we can prepare to welcome you well.
